How to interpret this result
The unified taxable base adds prior taxable gifts to the gross estate and subtracts entered deductions. The exemption then reduces that base, the supplied rate estimates tentative tax, and entered credits reduce the estimate. Estate after tax is gross estate less estimated tax; it does not allocate assets or expenses.
Applicability and limits
Confirm the tax year, federal or state jurisdiction, valuation date, asset inclusion rules, marital/charitable deductions, lifetime gifts, portability, credits, liens, and filing requirements. This is a simplified planning model and does not determine Form 706 or state-return filing obligations, domicile, or valuation discounts.
Calculation basis
Unified taxable base = max(gross estate + prior taxable gifts − deductions, 0). Taxable estate = max(unified taxable base − exemption, 0). Tentative tax = taxable estate × supplied rate. Estimated estate tax = max(tentative tax − credits, 0). Estate after tax = max(gross estate − estimated tax, 0).

What to check

  • An executor or family member enters tax year, jurisdiction type, gross estate, deductions, prior taxable gifts, exemption, tax rate, and credits to estimate a preliminary estate-tax result.
  • Use it before reviewing an estate return, trust plan, or transfer decision.
  • Confirm the tax year, federal or state jurisdiction, valuation date, asset inclusion rules, marital/charitable deductions, lifetime gifts, portability, credits, liens, and filing requirements. This is a simplified planning model and does not determine Form 706 or state-return filing obligations, domicile, or valuation discounts.
