Tax-year basis
The selected tax year identifies the expense-limit and credit-rate assumptions. Limits and rates remain editable and must be verified for the filing facts.
How to interpret this result
Employer benefits reduce eligible expenses. The remaining expenses are capped by the per-person limit multiplied by qualifying persons and by the lower earned-income amount; the credit rate is then applied.
Applicability and limits
This is a Form 2441 planning estimate. It does not determine qualifying-person status, work-related purpose, spouse student or disability rules, filing status, employer-benefit reporting, AGI-based rate tables, or the final credit/refund result.
Calculation basis
Expense limit = qualifying persons × expense limit per person. Net eligible expenses = max(care expenses − employer benefits, 0). Earned-income cap = min(taxpayer earned income, spouse earned income). Allowable expenses = min(net eligible expenses, expense limit, earned-income cap). Credit = allowable expenses × credit rate.
