Tax-year basis
The selected tax year and activity type identify the period and crypto context. Wallet records, basis method, and rate assumptions remain user-supplied.
How to interpret this result
The calculator computes gain or loss from disposal value, basis, and fees, routes positive gain by the entered holding-period threshold, and adds any staking or mining ordinary-income tax.
Applicability and limits
This is a crypto tax planning estimate. It does not determine wallet-level basis, specific identification, wash sales, airdrops, hard forks, self-employment tax, NIIT, state tax, or whether a reward is taxable on receipt.
Calculation basis
Capital gain or loss = disposal value − adjusted basis − fees. Long-term indicator = 1 when holding days exceed 365, otherwise 0. Capital-gains tax = short-term gain × short-term rate + long-term gain × long-term rate. Ordinary-income tax = staking/mining income × ordinary rate. Total estimated tax = capital-gains tax + ordinary-income tax.
